Grade 1-3 Class

Nov. 25, 2015

Next, Wednesday, Dec 2 ~ the grades 2 and 3 classes will be having a quiz on Canada's provinces, territories and their capitals.

I have sent home a note about this today in their agenda's so you will have time to review with them.

A link that we have used here at school is below.  As the students were finding the correct province or territory I would have them call out the capital.  They seemed to really enjoy this.  There are other great websites available ~ find one that works good for you and your child!

Enjoy!

Nov. 12, 2015

On Tuesday, the grades 1-3 class read the book titled: "A Bear In War" by Stephanie Innes & Harry Endrulat.  It is a great little story written from a bear's perspective about being sent off to war to help a little girls daddy.

When we were done reading the book each student had a chance to make their own "Brave Bear" ~ to help them remember that when they are in a situation where they need to be brave to remember to call on Jesus to help them!  Like our Bible text this week told us . . . "I am with you, and I will protect you everywhere you go."  Genesis 28: 15 (first part)

Also, I sent our an email with regards to signing up for Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday or Tuesday of next week (Nov. 16/Nov. 17).

Please be sure to click on the link to sign up for a time if you want to meet as I will only be meeting with those that have made appointments.

Wow!  What a busy week we had at school this week!  But thankfully ~ we all made it!

As our main page of the blog stated, we were blessed to have Pastor Victor and his wife join us for our Week of Spiritual Emphasis.  They did a great job!  The students were able to be refreshed on the "Fruit of the Spirit".

This week, the Elementary Students were able to write another letter to their "adopted" Senior Citizen.  Our letters this month had a "Remembrance Day" theme.  It always brings a smile to my heart to see how excited, and what a great job the students do, knowing that they are bringing a blessing to others!

As the weather is cooling - please send your child to school with hats, gloves, appropriate foot wear and coats.  I would also include extra socks (that will be kept in their book bags) for damp feet from the frost on the ground.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you to those that sent in their cloud projects!

Thank you to everyone who sent in treats for our "party" yesterday.  The students really enjoyed the chance to socialize with their classmates and eat some yummy food.  It makes me think of our Bible lesson this week on the Last Supper and how Jesus took the time to do this with his disciples.

We talked about how if Jesus was to come to our house how we would only want the best dishes out for him.  So, the students made some pretty glasses this week.  Be sure to watch for them to come home this upcoming week.

Sept. 7, 2104

Welcome to the grades 1-3 classroom!

We may be smaller in numbers this year, but we are big into learning!

So far we have 3 students in grade 1, 2 students in grade 2, and 3 students in grade 3.

This past week was a great transition for us to get our minds back into the "school" setting.  Tomorrow students will be starting to bring home their spelling words.  Please note that we will be having our tests every Monday (unless there is a holiday, then it will be the next day we are in school).  Even though we practice these words at school - I encourage you to work with your children every evening for just a few minutes to help review these skills.

I encourage you to come back and check our classroom page often to see pictures and posts on what we are learning through out the school year.

Thank you for choosing Sandy Lake Academy for your child!  I am looking forward to an awesome school year!
